Spontaneous Storytime at the State Library of NSW

Who’s up for another Spontaneous Storytime?

This one comes from a session at the State Library of NSW last weekend. I was joined by my author-illustrator bud Sean E Avery (creator of Frank’s Red Hat and Friendly Bee) who provided the live illustrations!

We had some fantastic ideas from the kids in the audience; check out the story below.

‘MEG WYNNE THE PIG-UIN’

Sunday October 26, 10:30am-11:30am

In which a half-pig, half-penguin called Meg Wynne – who spends most of her time diving underwater to catch cabbage fish – decides to chase her long-held dream of flying through the sky.

Undeterred (and under turd) she comes up with another plan: to eat all the balloons from The Baboon’s Balloon and Sticky Tape Shop. The balloons are filled with gas that the baboon made himself.

Meg picked herself up and dusted herself off. She had one final idea. She went back to The Baboon’s Balloon and Sticky Tape Shop, bought as much sticky tape as she could, and made an enormous sticky lasso. She caught the nasty magpie and his nasty friends, and used them to lift her into the air …

… and off into the clouds!

THE END.

Bonus drawing by me; Sean challenged me to draw my version of Meg Wynne the Pig-uin.

And finally, here are two very silly boys.
