My new graphic novel series Secret Agent Mole is finally out in the world as of today! Book 1: Goldfish-Finger is available wherever you get your books, (including the latest Scholastic Australia book club catalogue).
We had the WA launch last weekend at the Perth Festival family day, in the beautiful grounds of the Fremantle Arts Centre. Somehow our venue reached capacity, and we sold a massive stack of signed books! Thanks to everyone who came along. Here’s some pics from the morning.
My wife launched her new book at the festival, too; it’s called Say Hooray and it’s illustrated by Rebecca Mills. Renae and Rebecca and I were gifted with the most incredible hand-painted gingerbread biscuits made by local bookseller Kristy Diffey. Check these out:
They were almost too good to eat … almost. Thanks so much, Kristy!
A huge thanks to the team at Scholastic for making this book with me – thanks Andrew, Sharon, my editor Laura Sieveking and our brilliant designer Hannah Janzen. It’s turned out so great. Now, on to book 2!
My new graphic novel series Secret Agent Mole is released on March 1!
Help me celebrate at a book launch in my hometown of Fremantle.Details below.
(P.S. Sydneysiders and Melburnians, stay tuned for details of events in your necks of the woods).

Throughout each year, the language specialists at the International Youth Library select recently published books that they consider especially noteworthy. This >>premium label<< is given to books of international interest that deserve a wider reception on account of their universal theme and/or their exceptional and often innovative artistic and literary style and design.
This year, the >>White Ravens<< contain a selection of 200 notable children’s and young adult books from 53 countries published in 37 languages.
Brilliant news: Stellarphant has come in at #36 in the Better Reading Top 50 Kids Books!
Every year, Australians have their say about their favourite children’s books in the Better Reading Top 50 Kids . The list always features a mix of classics, picture books, middle-grade and YA.
This is the first year I’ve ever had a book on the list, and I couldn’t be more surprised and chuffed! Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who voted for Stellarphant!!
Spring has sprung, and so have the writers festivals!
The next two months are absolutely chock-a-block with fantastic festival events.
There’s an online workshop for the Brisbane Writer’s Festival, plus in-person events with the Quantum Words Festival, the Scribblers Festival, the Awesome Festival, the Melville Storylines Festival and the Lit Centre’s Celebrate Reading Conference (which may as well be a festival).
I even have an exhibition coming up all about Animals in Space.
The Children’s Book Council of Australia awards were announced today, and Stellarphant was awarded an Honour Book in the Picture Book of the Year category!
