We’ve got two more Viking events happening during the school holidays:

  • the State Library exhibition continues until the end of the September
  • we’ve got a Boffins bookshop event in Perth on Wednesday 1st October.

The Last Viking Returns exhibition

The State Library of WA is exhibiting prints of the final artwork for The Last Viking Returns until September 30th.

There’s also some original character designs, storyboards and progressive drawings, as well as research material and early manuscripts.

Free entry.

Family event at Boffins bookshop, Wednesday 1st October

Norman Jorgensen and I will be doing a Last Viking Returns event at Boffins bookshop on William st, Perth.

We’ll read from the book, then you get to do some drawings of dragons and longships and make your own Viking helmet!  Reserve your place online.


James will also be doing two other events at Boffins in the October school holidays for his book ‘In The Lion’. Check out the Boffins website for more details.

James makes books for courageous kids. He’s the author/illustrator of the S.Tinker Inc graphic novel series for middle primary: Brobot (2016), Dungzilla (2017) and Gastronauts (2018) star Sally Tinker, the world’s foremost inventor under the age of twelve, and Joe Tinker, her stinky baby brother. The fourth in the series, Chickensaurus, is out in late 2020. He is also the illustrator of the Toffle Towers series written by Tim Harris. James’ earlier books My Dead Bunny (2015), In The Lion (2012), The Last Viking (2011) and The Last Viking Returns (2014) have all scored several honours, including children’s choice awards, shortlistings in the Children’s Book Council of Australia Book of the Year awards, and selection to the International Youth Library’s White Raven list.
