I’ve recently become a writer-ambassador for an NGO called Room To Read, who (along with kids’ author Tristan Bancks) is running a campaign called the World Change Challenge.

The aim is to raise money for school children in Nepal.

Hold on – what’s ‘Room To Read‘?

A brilliant global NGO working to improve literacy and gender equality in education.

They do this by publishing and distributing local-language books, building libraries and schools, and supporting girls to complete secondary school. They work in 10 African and Asian countries and have helped over 9.7 million children so far.

So what’s this ‘World Change Challenge‘ thing?

A campaign to raise $40,000 to buy 40,000 books for children in Nepal by October 31, 2015.

After the devastating earthquakes, the aim is to help Nepalese children return to their normal lives, including getting back to school.

But $40,000 is a lot of money. How can we raise that much?

Every little bit helps, and you can help in two ways:

  1. by raising money at your school, or
  2. by making a donation today.

How can I raise money at my school?

You can download a free fundraising pack from the World Change Challenge page at Tristan Banck’s website. You could even win some awesome prizes for your school including author visits!

How can I donate?

Anyone can make a secure online donation through the Everyday Hero page.

Thanks for supporting literacy in Nepal!
