Hello readers! I’m struggling to find the right words for this post; it’s been a very big week in a very big month in a very crazy year and I’m barely keeping my eyes open. I’m sure many parents feel the same at the end of CBCA Book Week. As a complete sucker for punishment, on top of all this, I decided to run a livestreamed double book launch this morning. If you missed it, you can check out the recording below.
I really wasn’t sure if anyone would tune in, but I was very lucky to have friends, colleagues and readers taking some time out of their weekend to help me celebrate the release of two new books (a new graphic novel called Chickensaurus, and a picture book for older readers called There’s Something Weird About Lena).
I was even luckier to have two great friends join in the shenanigans – Tim Harris and Nat Amoore. They’re both fantastic writers and super busy people, so it was a real honour to have them on board for this. Tim wrote a hilarious quiz for the occasion, and Nat, uh, how do I say this … Nat was apparently eaten alive by a fictional book character. You’ll have to check out the recording to see what I mean. Rest assured it was a spooktacular performance.
So if you’ve got some time, I hope you can check out the book launch below; there are drawing tutorials, very silly jokes, behind-the-scenes reveals and giveaways! It was SO. MUCH. FUN.
