Until June 10: CBCA Make Your Own Storybook competition (for kids)

The Make Your Own Story Book Competition is held annually in Western Australia, and attracts entries from young people statewide. It includes categories for picture books and story books.

I entered the competition in primary school way back in the early 90s. My first entry received a certificate of participation, but my second go earned me third prize in the year 6-7 picture book category. I was so chuffed to win an award for my book; it’s a core memory for me that definitely filled me with encouragement and set me on this career path. I can’t recommend the competition enough! So if you have a talented young storyteller in your life (or YOU are a talented young storyteller), then maybe encourage them to have a go at making their own book too.

The competition is open to all WA students from Pre Primary to Year 8. Individual and school based entries accepted. Please read entry form for specific guidelines. Winners will be announced at an Award Ceremony in August 2022.

CLOSING DATE: Friday 10th June 2022
